Ignite Boulder #15

As one of the founders of Ignite Steamboat it’s always fun to go to the Mecca of Ignite in Boulder. It’s a huge event, selling out with over 1300 people.

Potential Impact

It’s no longer only about making things for a network of computers: it’s about making things for the fabric that connects all of us. It’s not bits and bites, it’s people and places. It’s not eyeballs, it’s faces. This is serious, and this is inspiring. Never before at any point in history has the potential impact of an individual following a desire path been so… incredible.

Shut Up

I’ve found this to be extremely powerful. It can be hard as a hell to pull off sometimes and I do struggle with it but this is golden when done properly.

The key I’ve found is being extremely prepared for the meeting. The purpose, outcome, questions, topics, agendas, etc have all been well thought out, written and ready. This allows the mind to be more at ease allowing the silence to do its thing.

Being unprepared causes the mind to constantly try to stay on track and fill in the gaps – which usually means talking.

Getting Some Work Done

It used to be big corner offices were a thing of aspiration. Now, this cabin represents an environment that seems so desirable in today’s world.

(I took this shot a few weeks ago and the good Patrick Rhone at MinimalMac.com was kind enough to post it.)
